The French Revolution took place from 1789 - 1799 where the lower class and common workers known as the Third Estate overthrew the First and second Estate which were the King and Queen along with the nobility and clergymen. The French were in a great amount of debt from their contribution in the American Revolution. With this debt, King Louis was not fit and not able to lead his people out of poor conditions, this caused frustration to the people and led to his execution. While food shortages kept rising, the magnificent palace of Versailles did not benefit the common people in any way. The main symbol of the revolutions beginning was the Storming of Bastille. The French people seized the prison and marked that day as Bastille Day in the rebellion against the monarchy. The corruption also terminated France's pursuit to its establishment in America as they could not afford to do as they planned. The Women's March on Versailles played a huge role not because of the discrimination against women but the concern of the amount of food and the high prices along with it.
